Share This PageOral Viagra in Women: Addictions and the Medical LandscapePeople who abuse Viagra (or similar drugs) are typically prescribed a drug that can treat impotence or erectile dysfunction (ED). The recommended dose of Viagra is usually 10 mg to 20 mg, taken orally. This can be increased to 25 mg or decreased to 5 mg if necessary. It’s important to follow the dosage instructions provided by your health care provider. If you’re using Viagra to treat impotence, it’s best to take the medicine at the same time each day. This helps to prevent the effects of the drug on your body.
Viagra can help treat erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow to the penis. This helps to achieve and maintain an erection. It doesn’t affect how well you metabolize the drug, but it can cause a reaction when taken together. It’s important to tell your health care provider if you’re using Viagra or any other drugs before taking it. Viagra can interact with certain substances, so it’s important to inform your health care provider about any supplements you’re currently taking.
Viagra can also help treat chest pain during sex. This is because chest pain can be caused by an enzyme called CYP3A4, which can break down certain drugs. CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as sildenafil (Viagra), can also decrease the amount of Viagra that your body absorbs.
A man is accused of cutting his Viagra prescription from a packet in the South African Revenue Service’s office in Limpopo.
The alleged crime took place after his manager had arranged a course of the drug to an unlicensed pharmacy in the north of Limpopo.
He was then arrested, along with two other people, at his home, at about 10:30am on Monday.
The case is being prosecuted by the Health Ministry’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in an investigation led by the Medical Directorate of the state-run National Institute for Health Research (NINR).
The medical directorate is investigating whether the men took part in a scheme to sell the drug.
The drug was originally made by Pfizer in the 1950s, the year the first patent on the drug expired.
The drugs that were prescribed by the man’s employer, NINR, had been illegally smuggled into the country through a series of illicit routes, the agency has said.
According to the agency, the men had used the drugs to obtain and keep as many as 10,000 tablets from the pharmacy, which they had to fill in their own shops. The pills would then be dispatched by post to the pharmacy, where they would be packaged, with each pack of the prescription medicines costing around $10,000.
The men said they were then arrested on Friday at their home in Limpopo’s Banten district, just a few kilometres from the state-run National Institute for Health Research.
The woman, who identified herself as Yana, said: “I had the prescription from my employer and they were taking it all. I bought the medication on the street and then bought it from a pharmacy.
“I was told by the pharmacist that I would need the medicines and then had to take them to the pharmacy.”
When questioned by police, Yana said she had bought the drugs from the pharmacy and had filled them in her own shop without having to pay for them. The woman had not told police she had bought the pills from the pharmacy, she said.
She had also taken the medication to her own shop, where it was later put into the prescription bottle.
In a statement, the state-run National Institute for Health Research said it had received a report that two men, who were aged over 45, had been arrested for their role in the conspiracy and sent to a “high-level” investigation.
NINR said the men had admitted to selling the drug, but had “conspired” in their own behalf, which had been made out to be “illegal”.
The police investigation will continue.
The men, who were not named, have been released from custody without undergoing any further proceedings.
In a statement, the National Institute for Health Research said: “In the interest of public health, we are calling for a comprehensive and independent investigation and prosecution. We are disappointed that the police failed to investigate the circumstances of this case.
“The ongoing investigation is in line with the international regulatory framework.
“This is the first investigation that will be conducted by NINR following the publication of a report by a specialist health service regulatory agency which has found that an illegal scheme involving the sale of drugs to unlicensed and unsupervised pharmacies in the South African state of Limpopo was part of the criminal activity against the men involved in the conspiracy.”
NINR said it was “taking reasonable notice” of the ongoing investigation and will seek a formal conviction. The report was published in The Sunday Times.
